1. Where do I call for non-emergency assistance?

The emergency communications center has a non-emergency telephone number that are accessible to the public. For all non-emergency situations, please call 912-368-3911. Examples of calls that should be placed to the non-emergency number are:

• Loud music or barking dogs
• Requests for information

3. How do I get a 9-1-1 address for a piece of property?

Empty land or parcels with no structure on them do not receive an address. 9-1-1 addresses are only assigned to the structure that resides on that parcel. Keep in mind that once a structure is removed for any reason, the address assigned to the structure is no longer valid.

4. How do I get a 9-1-1 address for my home?

You would need to call Building and Licensing or our non-emergency line, depending on if this is a new structure being built/moved, or if you are referring to an existing structure.  Please view our 9-1-1 Addresses page for more information.

5. Whom does the Center dispatch?

Public Safety Communications (LCPSC) dispatches for Liberty County:

• Animal Control
• Fire Departments (Hinesville, Liberty County, Midway, Riceboro, and Walthourville)
• Liberty Regional Emergency Medical Services
• Police Departments (Hinesville, Midway, and Walthourville)
• Liberty County Sheriff’s Office 
• And others

6. Can the Center communicate with the speech/hearing-impaired?

Yes. Liberty County Public Safety Communications (LCPSC) is equipped with Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) enabling communications with the speech/hearing-impaired callers.

If a caller uses a TTY/TDD, the caller should:

• Stay calm, place the phone receiver in the TTY, dial 911.
• After the call is answered, press the TTY keys several times. This may help shorten the time necessary to respond to the call.
• Give the call taker time to connect their TTY. If necessary, press the TTY keys again. The 911 call taker should answer and type "GA" for Go Ahead.
• Tell what is needed-police, fire department, or ambulance. Give your name, phone number, and the address where help is needed.
• Stay on the telephone if it is safe. Answer the call taker’s questions.

If a deaf or hearing/speech impaired caller does not have a TTY/TDD, the caller should call 911 and do not hang up. Not hanging up leaves the line open. With most 911 calls, the caller’s address is displayed on the call taker’s screen and help will be sent.

7. Can the 911 Center communicate with me during an emergency if I speak a foreign language?

Yes. When necessary, a 911 call taker can add an interpreter from an outside service to the line. Liberty County Public Safety Communications (LCPSC) provides a service made available from Language Line Services. This service provides us over-the-phone interpretation of more than 140 languages, 24 hours a day. A non-English speaking caller may hear a short conversation in English and some clicking sounds as the interpreter is added to the line.
