Tip & Toss
The most important thing you can do to help control mosquitoes: "Tip and Toss" water on your property. Many disease-carrying mosquitoes breed in containers filled with rainwater. These include, but are not limited to, tires, birdbaths, buckets, etc. The best thing you can do to control breeding mosquitoes in your area is to remove potential breeding spots by turning over items that hold rainwater, or periodically emptying such items.
Integrated Pest Management
Liberty County is fortunate to have a good mosquito control program that uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques to help reduce both nuisance and vector mosquito species. The reduction of both of these types of mosquitoes is important for good public health. It is important that public health and mosquito control continue to work together to keep the threat of vector-borne diseases low in Liberty County.
