Originally known as Liberty County 9-1-1, the communications department was created in 1991. With a new name, Liberty County Public Safety Communications (LCPSC) began operations May 8th, 2005 in a new location better suited to keep up with the demands of a growing county. A fully consolidated, enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) center, LCPSC answers and dispatches all emergency and non emergency calls for service (law enforcement, fire and EMS) with in the county. Annually the communications department processes between 90,000 and 100,000 calls for service. The communications center is staffed 24 hours a day by a Communications Supervisor and as many as five Communications Officers and GCIC Data Operators. The administrative staff includes Training Coordinator Brit Cortes, Assistant Director Erica Smith and Director Tom Wahl.
